Mini-Conundrum X2 (Photo posted November, 2007)
September 15, 2009: Mini-Conundrum X2 has been modified and the sculptures being sold are Mini-Conundrum X2 Rev 1 which contains 46 pieces adding slightly to the complexity of this metal puzzle cube.
Spring, 2007
Hi,
I've designed a new puzzle
sculpture that uses all the pieces of my previous sculpture, Mini-Conundrum, plus an additional 27 new pieces.............. Introducing Mini-Conundrum X2, a complex contemporary
cube sculpture that contains all the original
pieces of my Mini-Conundrum plus the additional pieces shown above; this new sculpture is composed of over a dozen different metals.
When assembled, the X2 makes a
larger cube than the original Mini-Conundrum with approximately
twice the weight, thus the X2 designation.
To further the challenge, when I start shipping X2 starting this summer, I am not going to concurrently release
any photos of the assembled sculpture or the assembly instructions. To the first person who emails me a photograph of the
assembled puzzle, plus a correct assembly sequence using the X2 Solution Form
linked here, I'll publish your name and photograph (if
it's decent!) on my website and certify you to the World Wide
Web as a "Puzzle Solving Genius." I receive a lot of hits to my
website each month so your achievement will be recognized by a large
number of people
throughout the world! This offer ends when I receive a correct X2
Solution Form and an assembled X2 photograph OR midnight, October 31st,
2007,
whichever comes first. At that time, I will post the photographs of the
assembled Mini-Conundrum
X2 puzzle
sculpture for all to see and assemble.
The specifications are listed
here:
Orders for this
sculpture will be filled on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVED basis with
shipments starting Summer, 2007. The X2 sculptures will be available with the two standard patina
finishes and rounded edges. If you already own a Mini-Conundrum,
I will do my best to match your existing patina on the new X2 pieces.
This is my most complex design since 2004 and it may be my most difficult puzzle sculpture to assemble, so if you are up for a real challenge, please don't hesitate to get on board now! Best Regards,
GarE Maxton Also, if you'd like to reliably receive my updates by email, please add "gmaxton@maxton.com" to your address book.
August 20th Update
I just shipped all the existing Mini-Conundrum X2 orders placed so far; all completely unassembled and without assembly instructions as promised. The solutions and other documentation will be shipped on November 1st. I will post the name(s) of anyone who solves the assembly puzzle without clues right here! Also, I'd like to mention that the fully assembled sculpture has a locking piece that can be removed with a special key; I will be including this key with every order.......... I've added a 24 Month Layaway Plan to make it completely easy (and painless) to acquire this sculpture. Upon receipt of the 7th payment (of 24) I will ship the first 17 pieces, which make up a complete, standard Mini-Conundrum cube. Upon receipt of the last payment, I will ship the remaining pieces to convert the Mini-Conundrum into an X2. This Layaway Plan locks in the current pricing without any interest charges. November 1st, 2007 Update
We have two X2 Puzzle Solvers
to present. Congratulations to both parties for much hard work!
Assembly of this sculpture, without instructions was an incredibly
complex task.
